Chapter 1 - The Dorth

The Dorth were coming.

The Dorth were a group of hyper religious nobility, acting on behalf of God, through gene manipulation and what not, landing in places to mine ores and leave the place when sucked empty.

They operated the same way through numerous generations, they first infiltrated and started to question the truth.  They installed uncertainty into the hearts of people. Unpredictability. Fear for the unknown drove these people into their arms, time and time again, they stepped in and devoured the place.

Was it really those few physiologically manipulated semi-humans that controlled all, or was it the vast army of volunteers, mercenaries and devout followers that added to the cost of the group, on top of the cost of all these crazy experiments keeping the Dorth alive longer...

Cedric had been waiving his hand for quite some time. Unusual during a debriefing, but finally the sergeant picked it up, stopped the film and looked into his direction.

What is it, private?

That film is bullshit, The Dorth aren't just some bunch of super-men from gene-splicing and eating healthy, these five people suck out the life of beings. The have their ways and in the end, you're dust. I think it's the minerals inside you, that they somehow manage to take the water out and then some.

These are pure evil.

There was some laughter around. A guy poking cedric and making faces, but Cedric was dead serious on getting his comrades to understand.

I was in a room with one of them, once, She was in a costume like those amazone riders, nothing else, and my arm almost froze off because she willed it. I know how that sounds, but these aren't ordinary people. If they don't have the real skills, they have access to some pretty advanced tech. Advanced as in "alien", or "from the future".

The poking guy was now making circles next to his head.

I'm serious. hey, pick up what you want, take my alert or not, but at least then admit they managed to mess with my brain, something you wouldn't have thought, right?

They have eons of battlefield experience, they have vast amounts of money at their disposal, they have tech and abilities we can only dream of... They have a very clear and simple mission statement: make money from ores. How much? More.
